Janet Schutz
About Janet:
She started it, she starts everything! She is my sister and it is jewelry. Oh, it was so innocent in the beginning.
During a trip to MN to visit my family my sister showed me this beautiful necklace and said "you can make one too". Off to the bead store we went. She made a necklace and I made a bracelet. That was fun. I really didn't think too much about it again until she shows up with a bag full of not so interesting beads, remnants of our grandmothers jewelry. Out of the not so interesting beads we designed and made bracelets for ourselves, our sister in laws, her daughters and our nieces. That did it, I was hooked.
Now, years later my bead choices are inspired by nature, from the brilliant copper colored sunsets we see over the Bohicket or the subtle shades of gray and brown we see in the moss and the bark of the Live Oak. Many of my designs are a combination of bead stitching, an ancient and multi cultural art form mixed with semi precious stones and colorful beads. Color, shape and texture provide a basis for my deigns. I hope that you enjoy wearing your new piece of jewelry as I did making it.
