Laura Liberatore Szweda
About Laura:

She has taught art in college, at the Gibbes Museum Studio in Charleston, SC and privately. Her work has won numerous prizes in juried art shows. Her mixed media entry won First Prize in the 2002 Piccolo Spoleto Juried Art Show, Charleston, SC. One of Szweda’s paintings is in the Collection, “An American Album,” permanently installed in the library of the National Museum of Women in the Arts, Washington, DC. Many of her works are part of private and corporate art collections. One piece is published in Barbara Hagerty’s book, Handbags, A Woman’s Most Trusted Accessory.
Artist’s Statement:
“My work is influenced by Nature whose spirit surrounds me and exists within me. At times, the paint is woven, warp to weft, always searching for the spiritual light of Nature, flicks of sunlight through dense trees, moon glow and sunshine, sparkles on water, ebb and flow of Mother Earth, breathing.”

Painting and Color Theory Class
Thank you for your interest in my Painting and Color Theory class being offered at Over The Rose Studio and Gallery, Monday afternoons from 1:00PM to 3:00PM, $40/session. You may pay on the day of your class with cash, credit card or check made out to Over the Rose Studio and Gallery. This painting class is open to all levels using your preferred medium, oils, acrylics, watercolor. Together we will examine the dynamics of color as they relate to you and your work. Supplies are not included. The class size is limited to 4 students, so reservations/cancellations are asked of you.
This is a good opportunity to begin or continue painting in a semi-private situation. We will work from still life/landscape and possibly from models in the future. The setting at Bohicket Marina is a feast for the eyes and is good subject matter as well. I encourage experimentation with methods and materials and will help you seek your own personal vision.
You may reserve a spot for upcoming classes through me, RYBGVO@yahoo.com, my cell phone 843-693-5760 or home 843-768-4795. At this point, I plan to offer the classes Mondays beginning January 21st to March 11th. Please contact me with your reservation requests as soon as possible. I will maintain a waiting list if classes are filled.
